Non-Motorized Transport (NMT), includes walking, cycling, cycle rickshaws for both passenger and goods, carts, and the cycles used by the differently abled. Walking and cycling are two popular, non-polluting and easy to adopt modes for transportation. Access to public transport and even for shared mobility access requires cities to provide infrastructure. Planning for NMT makes economic sense and contributes to social equity, and for the benefit of individuals’ health and environment of the city. However, there is a pressing need to align priorities paying attention to NMT in planning and resource allocation.
